Uddip is a society that finds its beginnings in the life experiences of its founder - Poonam Shroti, and her determination to serve the needy. Living with a congenital disorder, Poonam recons with the challenges that come with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Standing at just 2 feet and 8 inches tall, she has braved her way through immobility and successive surgeries, all the while completing her education with flying colours.
Poonam completed her Masters in Personnel and Finance Management and worked as a manager. The professional experience in talent acquisition firms made her notice the existing lacuna of inclusion and accessibility in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Thus, a strong will to bring an impactful change gave life to USWS.
Poonam has actively reflected her inclination to work for Women Empowerment, Disabled Empowerment, and Rural Development through a seven-year commitment to the organisation. A Ted X speaker, one of the hundred women achievers selected by Ministry of Women and Child Development and facilitated by President of India, Late Shri Pranab Mukerjee, recipient of Nari Shakti, Savitri Bai Phule and Inclusivity Champion award, Poonam has several accolades under her belt. Poonam also hosts a talk show- “Super 10 with Poonam '', which brings politicians, social activists, and other impactful people from around the country to share their views on disable empowerment and inclusive employment.
As a motivational speaker, Poonam has conducted several sessions with public and private organisations, institutes, and collective enterprises to spread the word of inclusivity and disable empowerment while championing equality and employment through several campaigns running actively in real-time and virtual environments. She is also a professional life coach, motivating and helping people in achieving their personal and professional goals.
